How do DormantFile deadline reminders work?

By DormantFile · Updated 31 March 2026

DormantFile sends email reminders before and after your dormant company filing deadlines. The goal is simple: make sure you never miss a deadline and end up paying late filing penalties for a company that did nothing all year.

Reminder schedule

Reminders are sent at the following intervals relative to each deadline:

Before the deadline: 90 days, 30 days, 14 days, 7 days, 3 days, and 1 day before.

After the deadline (if still unfiled): 1 day, 7 days, 30 days, and 90+ days overdue.

This gives you plenty of early warning, progressively more urgent nudges as the deadline approaches, and continued reminders if you miss it — because the penalties for dormant accounts increase the longer you wait.

One email per day

If you have multiple companies, you will not receive a separate email for each one. DormantFile consolidates all deadline reminders into a single daily email covering every company that has a reminder due that day. One email, all your deadlines.

Muting reminders

You can mute reminders entirely from your Settings page. This turns off all deadline emails for your account. You can also suppress reminders for individual filing periods if you want notifications for some companies but not others — for example, if a period was filed through another service and you are just waiting to mark it as complete.

Calendar feed as an alternative

If you prefer a visual overview over email, DormantFile also offers a calendar feed that puts your deadlines directly into Google Calendar, Outlook, or Apple Calendar. The calendar feed and email reminders work independently — use one or both.
