Use DormantFile inside ChatGPT or Claude

DormantFile runs a public connector your assistant can call. Ask whether your company counts as dormant, what a late penalty would be, when your accounts are due, or for a health check on any company number, and the answer comes from the same checks that power this site. No login, no account needed.

What it can do

  • Search DormantFile's guides and answers

Full-text search over DormantFile's published guides and answers about UK dormant company obligations: dormant accounts, the nil CT600, confirmation statements, penalties, strike-off, LLPs, CICs and closing a company. Returns up to five matching pages with a passage and the page URL. General information, not personalised advice.

  • Check whether a UK company counts as dormant

Applies the Companies House and HMRC dormancy tests to eight yes/no answers about a company's activity in its accounting period. Returns a status (dormant for both, one, or neither), the reasoning, and next steps.

  • Check whether a company must file a CT600

Works out from seven yes/no answers whether a UK company must file a Company Tax Return (CT600) with HMRC for the period, whether it would be a nil return, and whether it is already overdue.

  • Calculate a Companies House late filing penalty

Returns the Companies House late filing penalty for annual accounts filed a given number of days late, including the band and whether the doubling rule for a second consecutive late year applies. Companies House penalties only; HMRC penalties are separate.

  • Check micro-entity (FRS 105) eligibility

Tests three size figures against the micro-entity thresholds and returns whether a company can prepare micro-entity accounts under FRS 105, is small instead, is too large, or is an excluded type.

  • Calculate a company's next filing deadlines

Returns the next annual accounts and confirmation statement deadlines for a UK company, from its company number (read from the public register) or from an incorporation date and accounting reference date. No Company Tax Return (CT600) date is given: that return is only due when HMRC writes asking for one, and HMRC's notice sets the period.

  • Find a UK company on the Companies House register

Searches the Companies House public register by name or number and returns up to eight matches with company number, status, type, registered address and incorporation date. Dissolved companies are included and marked by status.

  • Run a free filing health check on a UK company

Reads a company's public Companies House record and returns a ranked list of filing problems and risks: overdue or imminent accounts and confirmation statements, strike-off notices, register changes in the last 90 days, penalties in play, and whether the company looks dormant, non-trading or active. Results are cached for 30 minutes.

  • Check director and PSC identity verification with Companies House

For a UK company number, lists each active director, LLP member and individual person with significant control, whether Companies House holds their identity verification statement, and the date each outstanding statement is due. Read live from the public register.

What it does not do

It cannot see your DormantFile account, your filings or anything you have entered on this site. It reads public Companies House data and DormantFile's published guides, nothing else. We count which tools are used and keep a short, non-personal summary of each call to see what is useful. The text of a question or search is never stored. Results are general information, not regulated advice.
