Catch-up filing

Years behind? Catch up in one sitting

Included on every paid plan — no per-period charges, ever.

Companies drift. A year gets missed, then another, and the brown envelopes get scarier until the register shows a company several filings deep in arrears. The fix is more mechanical than it feels: we read your full Companies House history, list every period you still owe right back to incorporation, and you file them oldest-first until the list is empty.

In the product

Every accounts period, in one list

The Account Filings tab reads the company's Companies House history and lists every accounts period since incorporation — outstanding ones first, with their due dates, and the completed ones behind their own tab. A company years behind sees the whole backlog here, oldest first.

  1. 1An outstanding period, with the date it is due — oldest first when there are several.
  2. 2Completed periods sit behind their own tab, right back to incorporation.
  3. 3Filed elsewhere? — tick off a period an accountant already handled.

The Account Filings tab lists every accounts period since incorporation, the outstanding one with its due date and a File button, and a Filed elsewhere toggle for periods handled by someone else.

Every missing period, found

From your Companies House record we work out every accounts period you still owe — not just the current one. You see the whole backlog at once, in order, before you decide anything. Want the picture before signing up? The free Companies House audit shows you the same thing.

Oldest first, until you're clear

Catch-up filings go in oldest-first, each one prepared the same way as a current-year filing. There's no limit on how many periods you can file and no extra charge per period — the subscription covers the filings.

Long periods split properly

If a set of accounts covers more than 12 months — common after a missed year or a date change — HMRC needs two Corporation Tax returns: a 12-month period and a stub. We work out the split and hand you both periods with the dates pre-filled. Most filing tools can't do this at all.

Filed elsewhere? Tick it off

If a period was handled by an accountant or another service, mark it as done and it drops out of your list and reminders. The daily register sync usually spots it before you do.

Questions, answered

Is there a limit on how far back I can file?
No — we surface every unfiled accounts period back to incorporation, and you can file all of them. Late filing penalties from Companies House may still apply to overdue periods; filing sooner stops them escalating.
Does catching up cost more?
No. Plans are priced by how many companies you manage, not how many filings you make — a five-year backlog costs the same as a single year.
