Questions
Who can earn DormantCoins?
Coins are for paying customers. Anyone paying for a DormantFile plan earns them; free Watchdog accounts don't. You need to be 18 or over.
Do I need to sign up?
Switch it on from your dashboard or in Settings. You earn coins from your first payment either way, so they're waiting when you do.
Can I swap coins for cash?
No. Coins have no cash value and can't be transferred, sold or exchanged for cash. You swap them for prizes from the catalogue.
Is there any element of chance?
Only in the daily spin, which gives coins, never prizes. It's free, you can't buy spins, and every spin wins at least 10 coins. Prizes always have a fixed price in coins, and if you have the coins you can claim one while it's in stock (some prizes are limited per account).
Is there a limit on how many I can earn?
The yearly limit is 15,000 coins per account per calendar year. Streak milestones, referrals and the daily spin sit outside it. Decoding letters earns coins for up to 4 letters a year.
When can I claim a prize?
From 14 days after your first payment. We send prizes by hand and email you when yours is on its way.
What happens to my coins if I stop paying?
They're frozen, not lost. If your plan starts again within 12 months they're yours again; if it doesn't, they expire. Closing your account ends them.
Do filings made somewhere else count?
No. Only filings submitted through DormantFile earn coins.
Can the scheme change?
Yes. We can change or end it with at least 30 days' notice, and you'd have that time to spend your coins.
