DormantFile vs WeFile
WeFile files both returns direct and self-serve, priced per filing rather than per year. For a single clean filing in isolation, that can genuinely be the cheaper route, and we'd rather tell you that than pretend otherwise. The models diverge over time: a dormant company files every year, and WeFile's price buys the filing alone — no reminder ladder between years, no register monitoring, no accounts prepared for you next time. Ours buys the annual ritual.

Which should you use?
Choose WeFile if…
- You need exactly one filing done right now and intend to handle deadlines and next year yourself — per-filing pricing suits a genuine one-off.
- You're winding the company down and don't expect another filing year.
Choose DormantFile if…
- Your company will still exist next year: the subscription carries your details forward, reminds you on a ladder from 90 days out, and can have next year's accounts prepared before you think of them.
- You want someone watching the register between filings — daily checks, hijack alerts and strike-off warnings are included, not extras.
- You're behind by several years: there's no per-period charge, so a backlog costs the same as a single year.
Questions, answered
- Isn't paying per filing cheaper than a subscription?
- For one filing in one year, it can be — WeFile publishes £15/filing. A dormant company files at least once every year though, usually twice counting the CT600, and the subscription includes the monitoring and reminders that stop a missed deadline costing you a late-filing penalty many times either price.
- Do both services file the CT600 as well as the accounts?
- Yes — both cover the Companies House accounts and HMRC's nil CT600, filed direct through the official gateways.
