DormantFile vs EasyDigitalFiling
EasyDigitalFiling is capable Corporation Tax software aimed at companies with real numbers: trading accounts, computations, the works. It has no dormant-specific plan — a dormant company filing two nil returns pays its Corporation Tax or micro-entity tier prices. That's not a criticism of their product; it's a mismatch of tool and job. We're the opposite trade-off: built only for dormant and non-trading companies, useless to a trading one, and priced like the ten-minute job a dormant year actually is.

Which should you use?
Choose EasyDigitalFiling if…
- Your company is trading, or has income and expenses that need real tax computations — that's their job, and deliberately not ours.
- You want one tool that can follow the company from dormant years into trading years without switching.
Choose DormantFile if…
- Your company is dormant or non-trading and you want the whole year — both nil returns, deadlines, monitoring — handled by something built for exactly that, at a fraction of a trading tool's per-filing price.
- You'd value the dormant-specific safety rails: we check what the register says about your company, tell you which accounts type applies, and preview exactly what will be submitted.
- You want the between-years layer — reminder ladder, daily hijack watch, optional autopilot — that filing-only software doesn't attempt.
Questions, answered
- Can DormantFile handle my company once it starts trading?
- No — and we won't pretend otherwise. We file dormant accounts, FRS 105 micro-entity accounts for non-trading companies, and the nil CT600. The moment you trade, you need trading software or an accountant, and EasyDigitalFiling is a reasonable place to look.
- Why is there such a price gap?
- EasyDigitalFiling publishes £80–£119/filing excluding VAT because it's built for full Corporation Tax work. A dormant company's returns contain almost no information — you shouldn't pay trading-software prices to file them.
