What is a CIC34 report?

By DormantFile · Updated 12 August 2026

The CIC34 is the annual community interest report that every community interest company must deliver to Companies House along with its accounts. It's a legal requirement under the CIC legislation — there is no exemption for small or dormant CICs.

The report covers, for the financial year:

  • What the company did to benefit the community it was set up to serve
  • How it involved its stakeholders in its activities
  • Directors' remuneration — what the directors were paid
  • Any transfers of assets for less than full value (the asset-lock disclosures)

Companies House places the CIC34 on the public register and forwards it to the CIC Regulator, who uses it to check the company still satisfies the community interest test.

Two practical points trip people up:

  1. It travels with the accounts, plus a £15 fee. The accounts, the CIC34 and the fee must be delivered as one package — accounts alone are not a valid filing for a CIC. This is the main reason CIC accounts can't be filed through WebFiling or ordinary filing software.
  2. A dormant CIC still files one. If the company did nothing all year, the report says so — but it must still be prepared, signed and filed with the £15 fee.
